EVMT Students Won the Asian Universities Alliance Student Competition: Good Governance in the 21st Century and its Challenges

The HKUST student team comprising (from left to right) Wang Tiancheng, Michael (EVMT Year 2 student), Lai Chi Ching, Angel (DDP Year 2 student) and Yao Xihan, John (EVMT Year 2 student) has become the winner of the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Student Competition: Asian Universities Alliance student competition: Good Governance in the 21st Century and its Challenges in the undergraduate category.

Organized by the Nazarbayev University, the competition aims at enhancing participants’ skills in negotiations and in communications within their team and with the wider audience, and leveraging on the strengths of team members to develop the most feasible solution to a policy challenge within a limited period of time. The HKUST Team “Orange” focused on policies regarding cross-boundary water resource management in Asia, which plays an increasingly critical role in the context of a changing climate and the lack of water supply.
